Dragonwell tea is a variety of pan-fried green tea that comes from Longjing village, near Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province in China.

It is made entirely by hand, in small batches, and is classed as a ‘Famous’ China Tea. This tea was used as a tribute tea for the Chinese Emperor Kangxi (1654 – 1722) during the Qing Dynasty. It has a delightfully complex, lingering flavour that is highly sought after by many connoisseurs.

Leaf: Pan-fried flat green tea leaves.

Characteristics: Pan-frying brings out the vegetal characteristics of the tea, giving it its complex flavourings of sweet nuts and roasted corn.

Brewing Hints: Brew in water that has been boiled and allowed to cool for a few minutes. Brew for three to five minutes.

Serving Suggestions: Ideal as a digestif after a meal or to clear one's palate and lift one's mood after a long day at work.

Origin: Longjing village, Hangzhou, China.
